Located east of Atlanta in Newborn, Georgia, Crystal Organic Farm is a trailblazer in the world of organic farming. Founded and operated by Nicolas Donck and Jeni Jarrard-Donck, this farm stands out for its extensive knowledge and expertise in cultivating medicinal plants and unique vegetable varieties.
For Nicolas Donck, a native of Belgium, the journey towards organic farming began at a young age when he fell ill and was prescribed a strict organic diet by his doctors. This early experience instilled in him a lifelong commitment to healthful foods and organic agriculture. After immigrating to the United States with his family in the late 1970s, Nicolas pursued a degree in International Business at the University of Georgia. However, a chance conversation sparked his interest in farming, and in 1993, he began restoring his mother's rural Georgia property, establishing Crystal Organic Farm.
Jeni Jarrard's path to Crystal Organic Farm was similarly motivated by a quest for better health. After experiencing various health issues, including asthma and food allergies, Jeni discovered that her symptoms improved when she switched to an organic diet. She became a customer of Crystal Organic Farm and eventually joined the operation, falling in love with both Nicolas and the farm's mission. 
Today, Jeni and Nicolas are committed to growing top-notch produce and medicinal herbs, driven by their belief that "health really starts with our food." They acknowledge the challenges faced by many in accessing local and organic food but are encouraged by the growing community of customers who prioritize supporting local farms like theirs.
Three decades later, the farm's unique approach to agriculture includes the extensive use of high tunnels, which cover approximately 85% of the farm's produce output. These advanced structures allow for greater climate control, extending crop seasons and reducing pest and weed problems.
With their unique backgrounds, unwavering commitment to organic agriculture, and pioneering spirit, Nicolas Donck and Jeni Jarrard-Donck have established Crystal Organic Farm as a beacon of sustainable and health-conscious farming in Georgia.
